Since there was a great number of troops to transport, the Defense Department contracted and still does today, a number of commercial carriers to transport troops from commercial airports to their deployment destination. Technically this will be under military use, but also under a commercial designation.
It is rare now that a military plane, other than a VIP plane (VC-25 aka Air Force One, VC-32) will land at a commercial airport.
Internationally, it will be normal if the country they are landing at is an ally of the United States or part of NATO.
