my kids rode tricycles until sometime in their 3s and then graduated to a bike with training wheels. in my experience, most 2 year olds can't pedal very well, so i agree it's a good idea to have the handle when they start out.

i've also seen very little kids as young as 2 on 2-wheelers that are just extremely close to the ground. they push themselves with their feet, not the pedals, but they very quickly learn to balance on 2 wheels. i thought they were really cool but i've never seen a bike that little in a store.

I want to get my son a tricycle with a handle for me to push him, and than he can graduate to peddling in time. He could not handle a tricycle by himself yet at all. He will be 2 in June.

But this tricycle is 100 dollars. If I get him a tricycle, I want it to last 2 years at least.

How long was your child in a tricycle?

I never did get my daughter a tricycle, I thought they were too small and that she wouldn't get very much use out of it. I got my daughter her first bike with training wheels when she was almost four and she is still riding it and she will be 7 in May.

My daughter was three when she got a bike. We bought her a tricycle and she did not ride it long before she got the bike. Take him to the store and try him on a bike. My neighbor's son is 5 months younger than my little girl and they rode a bike at the same time, so he might really be able to. You never know
