What actors do you think could play the characters in this book best?

Okay so I'm doing this assignment for Language arts sort of like a book report except I have to make it seem like i'm advertising the movie based on the book. I'm reading The House on Mango Street and I was wondering if you guys had any idea of any actresses that could play the leading characters in this book well.
 
Well, they'd have to have no self respect because that book is terrible. Are you in like fifth grade? That book is so mindless.
