astronomy is an endearing and mystical science. most of us are beginners drawn to it by the lure of the unknown.
this platform gives beginners like me to ask and learn from the learned top contributors who would be authorities in astronomy.
so my question to you seniors - what " in your opinion" is the biggest myth in astronomy?
most of us are groomed into beleiving several stories and myths.
lets discuss - and as the big boss on this forum says - " clear skies" to u all ;)))
thanks for the many answers... keep them coming. I was about to say black hole and Im happy a couple of people mentioned this.
When we hear scientists mention black hole and how long this black hole had existed, how it began and how it expnads - ofcourse parts of this - if not entirely is hypotheses. it cannot be possible for scientists to have ttravelled light years away to see and prove experimentally what they say about nebulas and blackholes are indeed true.

To the above Vladimir:
You are obviously quite stupid. Just because no other planet exists with the exact same variables as Earth does not mean life cannot exist. Humans need oxygen to live, sure enough. But that doesn't mean every life form in the entire universe needs it. The life form might not be human in the first place, requiring different things to live, rendering us both useless to each other. They come here, and die. We go there, and die. With the the fact of how massive the universe is, it's rather impossible that life doesn't exist anywhere else. Also, have you considered the multi-verse? There might be life in other universes that live totally different to this universe, in ways we can't imagine.
