Vue are opening a new 14-screen cinema tomorrow, with digital projection, two huge screens and three smaller Scene auditoria with a bar and comfy seats. It looks great, but there's nothing to go and see. I'm not criticising Vue, who have probably invested a small fortune in the business, but has there been a less exciting week for new releases in the past year?
There's The Wolfman, Valentine's Day and Single Man, none of which are going to set the world alight. Maybe Percy Potter or whatever it's called will interest the Rowling fans and Ponyo has some crossover appeal. But it's a rubbish week for anyone who likes good old-fashioned gripping entertainment, and probably the first week in a long time that I'll have trouble finding a film to see on a Friday evening.
