To enter into the legal profession (i.e. become a lawyer - solicitor or barrister), you will more often than not need to take a Law degree at university (degree) level. The most common degree is the Law LLB 3-year course, which requires no certain A-levels. Helpful A-levels to do would include Law (of course), Sociology, Politics and English, among others. Top law firms will look back at your A-levels to help them decide whether or not to employ you, so they do matter to a certain extent.
The long and short of it is that you can do any A-levels to get onto most university courses, but obviously if you've done, for instance, Photography, Media and Music, you are less likely to. Law gives you some excellent background knowledge and a great taste of what's coming, but everything you learn is re-covered in university.
Personally, I studied Law, Psychology, Sociology and English Language/Literature at A-level, and I felt that Sociology in particular was very helpful; English also greatly helps with your writing ability, crucial for completion of a Law degree.
