Today I woke up, even though I didn't really want to. I went to work, and we had 2 cars in the shop. Everything was fine and dandy. Then I had to install some windows in a run-down shithole that the owners evidently call a house. That went great, even though the house was full of shady residents who I didn't trust. At all.
But, nothing was missing. As I said, that went great.
Went back to the shop and found out that we had a bunch of shit to do. A windshield in a Chevy Truck, and 18x7 feet of mirror. No big deal. We all knew the mirror job was going to take a while, so me and another guy went and did that one.
There are 5 people where I work. The guy at the front desk, answering the phones. Secretary, if you will. Then there's the manager. Then 3 installers, 1 of which I'm sort of training, while I'm learning as well. The other one has been doing this shit for 10 years.
So, me and the experienced guy, Ian, went to do the mirrors, the guy at the front (also in charge of managing us), Pete, booked the Chevy truck in at the same time as Me and Ian went to do the mirrors. He tried to send the manager of our shop, Dan, and the other guy, Jordan. Dan didn't end up going. His excuse? Make me and Ian do it because he didn't want to, even though me and Ian were going to be working until 4:30 putting in mirrors.
He ended up going anyway, because the owner of the company phoned and told him he had to.
I got back from putting in those mirrors at 4:30. Took us 4 hours. By then I'm sore (packed about 400 lbs of mirror), tired, and looking forward to going home. But no. Apparently one of the paper towel dispensers was low when I left and somebody finished it off. Who does Dan blame for not filling it up? Me.
Yes, he blames me even though I spent maybe 20 seconds in the shop all day.
I'm beginning to not like that guy. We've gotten along for the past year. Then Ian, Pete, and Jordan came alone. Now he treats me like I'm useless. Good only for cleaning the shop and emptying the garbages. What was I doing all day? Working my ass off. What was he doing all day? Absofuckinglutely nothing. Yes, I'm supposed to be learning. Yes, I am trying. And no, he isn't helping. He was supposed to train me. But he didn't. Because he's lazy, unmotivated, and has no ambition. Ian's usually too busy to help, even though he tries sometimes. So I guess it's up to the two least experienced guys to train each other.
Meh. Whatever. The way things are going, I have a feeling Dan isn't going to be with us much longer.
