What 2 practices went against the Enlightenment idea of individual freedom?

In it's time, the two things that went against the Enlightenment idea of individual freedom were;

1. Slavery and Serfdom - basically the same thing and obviously one can't be free if they're a slave.

2. Taxes - ask the American colonists of the time, they believed that to tax someone without another to represent them in Parliament took away their individual freedom by controlling their money.
