We're marrying on his b-day, but having the reception 4 days later, b-day cake

for grooms' cake? My fiance's birthday is Tues, Aug 18th. We've discussed marrying on that day, but wait until Sat, Aug 22nd for our reception.

He doesn't like cake. I'm not a huge fan of it either. After our jp/ courthouse wedding we're going to go out to dinner with my immediate family. After dinner, we'll leave for our honeymoon.

I was thinking of surprising him with a bday cake for dessert following dinner, but since Groom's Cake is so traditional I thought that maybe we should wait and celebrate with it at our reception.

I was thinking of a traditional tiered bride's cake and a chocolate birthday 1/2 sheet cake for his groom's cake. If we celebrate with cake on his actual birthday, we'll just have a white birthday 1/4 sheet cake and prolly skip the groom's cake or just do a plain chocolate one.

Should we only use the 18th as his birthday and keep the reception a separate celebration on the 22nd? None of my friends or extended family know the 18th is his birthday...

Thanks!
I hate chocolate anything. Groom's Cakes are typically chocolate and in this instance would be for our guests benefit.

I'm going to have a white cake. I like cake, don't love it... I'm sure he'll eat a little of it, even if it's for pictures only.
