I dont have allergies but my 2 yr old daughter does. she is allergic to dogs, cats, eggs, dairy, house dust and the major one is peanuts! i took my daughter in on friday to an allergist thinking i was going to get some answers..WRONG! she didnt even have the lab results of her tests, luckily i had the ones the lab sent me. and they asked what i was there for. i should have left right then and there. anyways she went over everything except for the allergy that could possibly kill her.everytime i asked anything about the peanut allergy she wouldnt answer and said she wants my daughter tested for tree pollon and other allergies. so i really got no answers and dont know anything i didnt already know going in. should i find another allergist?? one that just deals with pediatrics? Help im stuck and i want my daughter better.

Yes, I would definitely see a pediatric allergist. There is a lot of research that just came out about peanut and other food allergies not really showing up properly in testing...in other worRAB, a peanut allergy may not really exist or be as dangerous as previosuly thought...along with some others.

If you didn't get a good feel from your daughter's doctor, it couldn't hurt to get another opinion. What kind of specialist did you take her to this time? What kind of testing did they do the first time...blood tests, skin tests...? What kind of symptoms is she having?

The blood testing is best for the food allergies, but it isn't 100% accurate. The best way to figure out food allergies is typically through the elimination type diets. That can be dangerous if your daughter has a true peanut allergy though. Has she had reaction to peanuts before?

Skin tests are often the most accurate for all forms of environmental allergies. I'm not familiar with what is best for young children though.

I guess the best I can say is to go with your gut. If something doesn't feel right, keep asking questions or look somewhere else for your answers.

Good luck. I wish your daughter well.

thank you for the reply. the dr ordered a blood test because we wanted to know once and for all if she had a milk allergy like my oldest daughter does. well she has a slight milk allergy.

that blood test showed she is highly allergic to Peanuts, shes also has slight milk and egg allergy. also showed up was dust ,cat and dog dander.

we saw an allergist that sees all pts adults to babies.

on June 1st she is having a scraping done for other allergies, thats the soonest i can do it where my insurence company will pay for it.

i called the allergist she saw and told her i wasnt happy and definatly my husband wasnt, if he isn't that's a problem.

Last night when i went to change her diaper for bedtime she had broken out in a rash and hives all over her belly, i striped her naked and didnt see them anywhere else. dh seems to think it was from the 1 strawberry she ate,not 100% sure yet tho :(

after the June 1st visit i am switiching my daughter over to a pediatric allergist in the city.

thanks again
Heather

she gets super cranky, breaks out in rashes and hives, puffy and red eyes, runny and stuffy noses.
