well i did it, the fob!

If the fob is next to the bike on a shelf the bike will start and keep running once you leave the vicinity of the fob. After the bike is turned off it won't restart without the fob or doing the security code. For this reason I don't leave my fob in the garage.
 
thanks folks, im looking at the owners manual now and will set the code in morning. something i just forgot all about. lesson learned the hard way.
 
Ya I remember setting the code for both bikes and practicing it till I could do it my sleep. Of course I don't have a clue now, I sure hope that battery doesn't die, Oh well, glad I have a HOG membership and as long as I can remember there phone number, I'm screwed.
 
Every year in spring I check the manual and practice the code (just in case). Only trouble is that by now I can't remember...maybe I should practice it again. Good to know if the battery in the fob dies too.
 
The first thing I did when i bought my bike is set up the code. Never wanna be stuck. It is easy to set. Make sure you pick a code that you will remember.
 
Done the same damn thing, rode the bike to the gas station (left my fob and key on the workbench) turned off my bike reached for my key and discovered I had forgot it! Not only could I not gas up I had to send my buddy to retrieve. Lesson learned learn the code and keep a uncut Harley barrel key in my saddlebag (works on the gas door)
 
The "requirement" suggestion was my attempt at irony. Not too effective, I guess. It just seems to me that with all of the complicated electronics we learn to control that we'd make it a point to learn the fairly simple override method that could save us in a pinch. The first time I found myself outside my job at 5:05 PM trying to start my bike without the fob I really had to search my memory for the details after only reading through them once or twice. As soon as I got home I pulled out the manual and reread the fob section and practiced the routine until I was more confident I could do it in my sleep. You don't think about it until it happens and then it's too late.
