..I was watching tv last night and then -gone- ... it was a clear sky, nothing changed... my 4100 can't find any channels and when I ask it to do the switch box test, it finds nothing! I have no signal (0) and no TV...

Any ideas what could have happened? I checked the cables and reset the 4100 by holding down the power button, but no dice... ?

That happened to me a year ago tonight (I remember exactly because I was watching the Calgary/Edmonton Labour Day rematch, just like I am right now).
I fell asleep and when I woke up an hour later, no signal.

Somebody stole my dish.

That probably didn't happen to you.

You're right... that didn't happen to me. I changed the LNB (had two single eyes kicking around) and that had no effect either... anyone?

lol ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

They climbed up to your roof and STOLE YOUR DISH?!

holy crap that's so funny, sorry you were probably pissed back then, I know I'd be but if I look back at it I'd be laughing.. haha.

It would be better to do a reset on the 4100 by pulling the plug for a bit but I agree with the others it most likely a bad cable or receiver

The funnier part is that they did it while I was home with the TV on.

It wasn't on the roof, Bell wouldn't install it there. It was on the outside of my balcony. (I'm in an apartment in the 2nd story of a house, with stairs leading up to the balcony.)
There was a 2nd inactive dish right below mine (a neighbour had subscribed briefly and cancelled), but the thieves left that one because it only had 1 LNB. (at least I assume that's why they left it)

I used that dish as a replacement, added a 2nd LNB and had it put on the roof.

By replacing it.?

It should be cheaper than replacing a receiver.

Or do you know someone else with Bell TV, take your 4100 to there house and try it on there system.

..I picked up a used 6100 tonight ... I'll have to call Bell and get them to switch things, but I should be golden. :)

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I was watching TV on my 6100 which I've had for a few years. I then turned it off. A couple hours later, came back and all my programming was gone. The guide was there, but there was no programming. I did a check switch and it failed to recognize the S 21 switch. I was still getting good signal strength on both satellites, however, it gave me an error message.

Called Bell about it and they ran me through all their "diagnostics" and the best they could suggest was a service call. I unplugged the receiver for 20 minutes, plugged it back in and all appears to be back to normal.
