weird throat/ear/tounge pain...please help!

Hello everyone.
For a few weeks now, on and off I have been having pretty strong pain in one side of my throat.
It is also a bit swollen, and may be my lymph node, but I cannot really tell. It is a weird hard-to-locate pain, almost like it moves around my ear/throat and maybe even tounge area. Sorry I cannot be more precise, but it is nothing I have ever experienced before.
It is swollen at the top of y throat, right near my ear and feels clogged at times, goop draining in my ear. Gross, I know. It makes it hard to swallow and makes me irritable and easily fatigued, hard to talk and swallow at times because it is pretty painful and it hurts to move my tounge side to side, I can feel it pulling and irritating whatever is swollen in my throat. I can see no swelling from the outside....But it has been happening on and off for about 3 weeks, usually the pain lasts for 1-2 days, then goes away and comes back 5 days later or so.
Very weird.
I am worried it may be from a tooth that possibly is infected....but there is little pain in my mouth. Is this possible? I am especially worried becuase I have no dental insurance, and am un employed. My tooth defintiely needs looking a though.
Ahhhh. What is it?

If something is draining from your ear, you need to be seen by a doc ASAP. An abscessed tooth, even way in the back will not drain through your ear. It will make it's way out into your mouth(been there). But you could have an infection in the bone of your jaw which if left unattended, could penetrate to your brain. Bone infections are very slow to develop and have on and off again symptoms. Time to see a doctor...now.

good luck..............Jenny

SCARY! Ahhh. Well, i don;t know if it's draining in my ear, more like from my ear..Nothing is coming out of my ear or anything, it is more like drainage from my ear into my throat, but I can't really locate it.

You need to see an ENT MD first. He will probably order an MRI with & without contrast to look for any tumor. I had a parotid tumor & it was removed. Most are not cancerous. Hope you have done this already. If this does not help respond back.
