Just recently my car started making this almost whirring type sound when its on. The sound changes pitch when you accelerate. It's sort of like the sound kids make when simulating race cars lol. It doesn't seem to interfere with driving it in anyway except for some minor vibration in the steering column. It also sometimes changes pitch when you turn.
