weird ps3 internet losing memory please help!!?

my ps3 had 37GB in the beginnnig because i bought a 40GB ps3. when i went to saved files it shows all the saved game datas i have and how much each space takes up. each takes about 400 MB and theres 6 games. this means all that takes up 2GB and 400 MB. this means that i should have about 35GB, right? well, my ps3 says it has 30GB. i dont know how i lost that much. i have do downoloaded demos, no videos, pics, or anything except the games and the free ps3 internet and all the updates. and i know the updates sghould not take up 5 GB. so how do i get the GB back and whats the problem?!
 
The updates, demo's, and believe it or not when you play games it occupies memory but at the end of the game it should give your memory back otherwise it goes to waste.
 
Well your problem is the internet updates it takes alot and the free ps3 internet also takes alot but depending on the games they also take alot of memory or the memory card is damaged like the ps2 when its is damaged it takesmemory away somestime a lot sometimes a little
