Weird pimple thing on the back of my neck?

For a while I've had a pimple thing on the back of my neck, and every now and then, I try to pop it by just squeezing it between my fingers, like I do with any pimple or zit back there. But this one wouldn't do it. So earlier tonight, I went into the bathroom to finally look at it and oh my. It was quite large, and red, and it looked like there was some bacteria in there. It definitely looked like puss was in there, but it looked like it was floating among the blood. So I squeezed and squeezed and it would bleed a little. But then I got an earring, de-santized it with hand sanitizer, and poked at the pimple thing. It bled and deflated quickly.

I'm wondering wtf this was. It definitely had puss or bacteria or something in it - I saw it. Was it good or bad I did this? I have a huge... I guess fetish, for popping zits. I couldn't resist it.
 
First off, you can't see bacteria with the naked eye!! Most likely, it was puss. I hope you used something other then hand sanitizer to clean the the area. Use Peroxide, Witch Hazel, or Alchol to clean the infected site. It could have been an insect bite. If it doesn't clear up in a few days, please get it checked.
