I tend to meditate laying down. Because it relaxes me more. But anyways, I am not trying to fall asleep. But as I am meditating calmly and feeling relaxed....I will get one of three weird sensations. One, I will feel as if I am not breathing. And immediately gasp. Two, I will feel as if my heart has stopped and I can't breathe. And again I'll gasp. Three. I will feel this feeling in my head like their is no blood going to my head and the shock of it will jolt me to open my eyes and stop relaxing.
When I have googled to try and find out what's going on, it seems that sleep apnea is what might be happening. But i elevate my head. Make sure my breathing passages are ok. And I'm not trying to fall asleep during meditation. Just trying to relax deeply. When I do try and go to sleep; it never happens because I usually sleep on my side and don't notice it if it does.
It's a weird feeling. Like blood flow or oxygen isn't getting to either my brain or heart or my lungs or whatever. Does anyone know what this could be?
