Weird but true- Why do otherwise rational individuals forego reason in a Political

Because politics has nothing to do with logic or reason.

If logic and reason applied, we would have seen the following:

Ted Kennedy spending 40 years behind bars, not in the Senate.

Burris out of the Sentate, not in it.

When Nixon got accused of Watergate after Chappaquiddick, the journalists said "So what?"

Nobody would have blamed Bush for 9/11 any more than they blamed Clinton for the 1993 WTC bombing.

Nobody would have said "Bush is Hitler."

When Clinton got impeached, he would have resigned.

Clinton never would have uttered the phrase "WMD" until some were actually found someplace.

When the 9/11 pilot was reported to the FAA five times, the Clinton administration would have at least questioned him and suspended his pilot's license.

When Madoff was reported to the SEC in 1992, the Clinton administration in 1993 would have shut down Madoff, instead of shutting down the company that reported him.

We would have had choices other than McCain and Obama from a leading political party.

Politics is based purely on emotion, I've found. People will accept, and promote, a lie they like over a truth they don't. Most leaders of the past and present understand this.

debate? Ignore cause and effect, generate false opinions and beliefs, adhere to propaganda no matter how irrational and unproven- i.e., 'trickle down', anything with the appellation of 'peace keeper;, etc? !984 ain't got nothin' on our current battleground of ideological differences.
