I have been on zoloft for over a year for my OCD and ANxiety. . . and in that time have gained over 50 pounRAB!!!!!!! I have put 2 and 2 together and it has to be the zoloft that has put on the weight. I have tappered down and been off zoloft for 10 days. . . still having the withdrawl. . . brain waves and dizzyness. . .Ewwww
I am wondering has anyone had success loosing the weight after getting off and how long did it take???
what worked and what didnt??
It has been over a month since I have been compleatly off the zoloft. . . I have not seen any weight loss but I am hopfull in the months to come I will see some weightloss. I have been working out and seeing a trainer and watching everything that I eat.
The side effects of the withdrawl are gone now so that is the silver lining in the cloud.
I would love for others to share there experience with this!!!!
After taking zoloftfor 2 months at 100mg ive gained about 25 pounRAB. I am ready to get off! I have began tapering down and i'm getting anxious to get off completely. I am 5'7 and i currently weight 155lbs. This kind of weight is shameful to share but i am ready to lose the weight. I am hoping that i can cope with the anxiety i used to battle all my life until i started medication. I am just too fed up with weight issues. My plan is to hit the gym at least 5 times a weak and play tennis at least 5 times a week. My weight loss goal will be 15lbs a month.
Jessica, I'm glad to hear you are through withdrawal. I have a question for you though, how are you mentally now as compared to pre Zoloft? I'm hoping that it's better than before because right now I'm not exactly sure of what the goal of taking SSRI's is at this point (duh! probably a good question for my doc).
I just don't know if they are a band aid for the short term or there's an actual "healing" while on the meRAB.
I am feeling better all together. . . I still have some anxiety issues that I deal with. . . my OCD comes and goes (depenRAB on my stress level) We will see if I can handle it when my husband deploys in March. . . that is when I see a spike in my symptoms of ocd and anxiety. I will keep you all updated. . . I have not lost any weight but I have lost 4 inches in my waist so yaaay!!!!
So it has been a while since I tappered off of Zoloft. . . I have lost 6 inches in my waist and 10 pounRAB. I have always been active and worked out and I didnt change anything about my workouts!!!
so I am Convinced that the weight gain was totally due to the zoloft!!!
I still have anxiety and ocd but I would rather deal with them than be depressed because of my weight.
I am hopefull that I will eventually loose all the weight but it seems to be slow go at this point.
Hello. I am 38 and started taking 10 mg of Lexapro 2 years ago. Last year I went down to 5mg and triped to taper off but could not get over the side effects so remained at 5mg. I finally decided after gaining 52 pounRAB that I could not deal with the weight any longer. I'm 5'3 and weigh now 167. I've always been tiny and now I'm a boat. It's very very hard for me to deal with. Anyways, I quit taking it all together almost 2 weeks ago and still having really bad brain zaps. My depression or GAD has been great, even with having some serious family issues going on. I also have been fighting a reoccuring respiratory illness for 4 months and still have a good attitude. However, these withdrawals may be the end of me! I don't know how much longer I can take the severe headaches, nausea and brain zaps. I know it's not from the cold in my chest because they only came the day after I quit Lexapro.
How long does it take for the side effects to go away, and how long to see some results in weight loss?
Glad to hear success stories, it gives me hope.
Michelle
It took almost 2 months for the Withdrawls to go away. . . and it has been 7 months and I am just seeing results now with the weight loss!
you really need to tapper slowly. Talk to your DR I tappered for almost 3 months and still had withdrawls for 2 months!!!
but now that I am off I have never felt better. . . I still have GAD but it is better that being on those meRAB!
