I have been having severe leg pain for about 3 years and it has finally become unbearable.

I just went through decompression therapy and although it helped a little, it didn't help enough.

My chiro is now recommending I see a surgeon to repair my degenerative disk.

I could stand to lose about 60 lbs in a perfect world.

What are the changes that this would cure my problem without surgery.

In how may cases is weight a factor?

Thanks!

There are so many different techniques you can do without over doing your body. Start off doing small things, like walking through water at a pool or a 30min walk everyday. Also, changing your lifestyle and eating habits have a major impact as well. Losing weight isnt going to happen in a flash, it takes time and discipline. Goodluck =]

I was about 80 pounRAB overweight when I had my surgery. I was a healthy heavy person and my Doc said I was a great candidate for the surgery. I had a two level fusion-successful. I am currently on Jenny Craig and it is working for me-I don't want to blow any other discs out but my doc said it wasn't the weight that CAUSED it-I have degenerative disc disease. It was happening no matter what I weighed. Our bodies are better when at a healthy weight-no arguement there! Your weight will not keep you from getting releif from surgery though. DDD is going to happen-its origin has many starting points including family history.
Please, when you look for a doc, make sure they are Fellowship Trained, Spine Specialist!

Blessings,
