My potential photographer (i havne't signed a contract yet) is requiring 50% deposit at time of signing and the remaining 50% 30 days prior to the wedding. I am fine with the initial deposit, as it is to be expected, however i am not sure if it is normal to require the remainder to be paid prior to the event. We are doing a pretty basic photography package, so no prints will be exchanged, just a disc with all of our edited & released photos will be given to us. I have spoken with a couple of references which he provided and they all had nothing but great things to say about the photographer and his wife. They also said that they turnaround time was pretty quick, less than two weeks for them to get their final edited disc. So I guess my question is that is it normal for a photographer to require payment for everything up front? I'm planning on emailing him to see if he would accept 25% of the remainder at the 30 day mark, and the remaining 25% at the time we receive the disc....but if he says that he can't do that, I wanted to make sure that this is somewhat normal....

Thank you!

PS - sorry so long ! :)
