We will be redoing our living room and dining room walls. We have paneling glued (very securely) to the walls?

if we take it off it pulls the plaster off (the house was built in 1930) the actual plaster is in rough shape. We are interested in drywalling, but don't want to make our baseboards uneven, etc. Any suggestions?
