Ways to improve reception

buy an antenna booster, (yes they do work if you put it on right and in the right location on your phone)

Well......I've used these before and they never really worked for me!! So where is the right location to put the antenna booster?
 
Take out your battery. Stick the attena booster sideways where the battery was. Make sure you stick it in the all metal area. If you stick it on top of the white stickers. it will not work. I fix and repair phones thats why I know where it goes. Your welcome.
 
Antenna boosters were cut and designed as ground plane radials for 900MHz phones. They are mostly worthless in the iDEN 800Mhz spectrum. They are still junk for 900MHz phones anyway as a true ground plane makes contact with the base of the antenna. If you truly want to boost reception, remove the rubber ring at the bottom of the antenna inside the phone... that (according to some posts on Howard) that have since elapsed, should give you a good +3db boost.
 
Removing the rubber ring doen't not work. That rubber ring is for protecting the phone so when you wet it the water will not go in as much.
 
I just opened the back of my i530, (the phone in question from the orginal post), and there is no metal part. The whole inside behind the battery is plastic. . . . :confused2
