Water Clearing Drops for Fish Tanks?

Is this okay to do versus cleaning the tank? Is it safe? It makes the water clearer, yes, but is that just as if you were to replace it with new water? Does it clean the water or just do some weird unnatural process that makes dirty water look clean?

dumb product...

a crystal clear tank is made by a good population of beneficial bacteria in the filter.

this product binds tiny pieces of dirt into bigger clumps to be trapped by your filter. the binding chemical lasts about 20 hours then the dirt is let loose back into the tank so if you do use it rinse out your sponge within that time.

cloudy looking water is almost never dirt in the water so this product is usually pointless.

Water clearing drops are for clearing foggy water( helps with several things) but they don't clean the water, they help settle the particulate matter in the water.

If you have a tank, you can do a 50% water change, taking care to have water handy that is the same temp as the water you have, and water that has been treated for chlorine and other harmful things you get out of tap water. If you can buy Stress Coat which helps fish with stresses of water changes and other things, use it to help with your water change.

Sorry there is no easy way to get around doing the cleaning on your tanks.
