I'm cycling my tank w/ 3 tiger barbs. It has been a little over 2 weeks now. The LFS told me to not do water changes because it will mess w/ the beneficial bacteria. I've recently read online and it says to do water changes to keep the tiger barbs from dieing. What does it mean by water change? Just put a siphon in and remove water that is in the tank or move the gravel around so waste flies up and then siphon that out. Of course moving the gravel around would be cleaner for my tank, but does that disrupt the beneficial bacteria?
also brown algae has grown on my crypt lutea plant, amazon sword plant, and driftwood w/ annubia, and on my glass. Do i clean the algae off or let it grow until the tank has finished cycling?
