wat kind of engine do i need for my 1985 harley-davidson softtail.?

S&S, Ultima, Merch, Revtech (blehh), and other companies make an evo style engine that will fit your chassis. They can also set you up with a 4,5, or 6 speed trans. Do you want a belt or chain drive? You have many options.
 
i have a rolling chassis and need an engine and drive line. i don't know if it needs to be an older motor or if its to much trouble to put a newer one in there........i'm clueless please help
 
the 1340 EVO ( 80ci) is the stock motor.
or you could use a 110 screaming eagle
or even a 141 jimm
