I've been on the pill for 3 years and went to my college's doctor to get a refill. It was a new doctor who didn't know me. I'm actually on the pill for acne, but when she asked I said I also took it for contraceptive purposes.
For 2 of those 3 years I was with my boyfriend. We broke up last year and I stayed on the pill because 1) I'm mainly on it for acne anyway 2) it makes my periods a lot more manageable and 3) I have in fact had casual sex since my break up, though it was with the same guy and I'm definitely not promiscuous. As it happens though, I'm not intending to have sex for a while, but I like the pill just in case, so that when I get a new boyfriend I don't have to rush to the doctor for a prescription etc.
Anyway, she checked I was still healthy to receive the pill and then gave me a prescription and then asked if my boyfriend would drive me to get it. I just said "mm" because I can drive myself places, and I thought that was a bit weird. Then she asked if my boyfriend had a car! I said "I don't have a boyfriend" and she then said "If you don't have a boyfriend, why do you need the pill?"
Am I the only one who thinks this was inappropriate? I was under the impression the pill was something given to women if they asked for it and were healthy enough to take it, I didn't think there were conditions on it. Also, it's mainly for acne as I said, it actually says in my medical records it's for acne. And there are like 10 other conditions which women take the pill for, I know so many girls on it for painful periods, to skip periods, etc.
Also, this doctor works in A COLLEGE. People in college have casual sex all the time, what exactly did she want me to say?
