Was there such a person called Jimmy Patterson?

I have a GameCube game called Medal of Honor that's based on World War 2. I'm reading a book called Stepping on the Cracks that's based on two girls during World War 2. One of the girls big brother's name is Jimmy in the war but it doesn't say his last name. The game names a guy called Jimmy Patterson. I'm wondering, was he a real guy?
Then I just thought, is it probably just a coincidence?
 
The Jimmy Patterson in the game is a fictional character.

He's loosely based on real life hero Audie Murphy, the characters in "Saving Private Ryan," and actual first person accounts of other WWII Soldiers.
