polytheism doesn't seem to make sense as a political system. Nor does animism. Maybe it wasn't until this terrible idea of monotheism came along that it 'made sense' to merge it with politics or at least it followed logically somewhat. And maybe we are all still suffering the consequences of this type of 'might makes right' attitude that comes with he monotheist god.

I think maybe at first it was just how people basically viewed things, they just projected elements of themselves onto nature lets say. then as time went on they started getting more 'sensible' in a way, and realized that any god must have made all this stuff and must know how it all works. And then it merged.
