i had my 2 rats out before. koda had his front paws on my right arm and he was nibbling it. it felt like small scratches but with his teeth. and he was moving down my arm while he was doing it.
if i had food on it, he would have bit me
its actually the first time he has done that to me.
 
rodents get their salt from our hands, its either that or

just me and my hamster wish i had a cute rat even more 2 L-U-C-K-Y!!
 
possibly or it could be a sign of aggression if it continues and the scratching gets harder then it might be.
