Next day the enemy had retreated to defensive stongholds well ahead of the frontlines.
With nothing to do we arranged an athletic competition of who could jump on the enemy bodies without slipping and win a race. The winner would have the choice of the best looking Bohunk girl in the next town.
When we proceeded to the the next Bohunk village the winner found a girl he liked and proceeded to lead her away. some Bohunk guys came out and i put my weapon to the temple of the loudest (I had no idea what he was saying) Five or six of my squad had weapons drawn.
He took her away to have his way with her. later we found her in her in a fetal position crying like a baby in a house. Our medic said she was OK but was distressed. He gave her a form a Valium and in minutes she was laughing and even flirting with our squad.
Would she have ended up OK. I now have mild PTSD for not intervening. I comfort myself by thinking that if she got pregnant at least she got some normal genes and maybe her baby had a chance at a normal life.
