I don't believe Louis Riel was either guilty or innocent. He was the leader of the Metis people in Upper Canada. And, so, government troops were invading his people's land. He fought, and was considered evil and insane, literally, by some people. He was hung for treason. But he was standing up for what he believed in and for his people, so I don't think he was guilty, but the way he went around defending his people was wrong. It could have been done more peacefully then war. Hope I helped!
