I have used it but not for cooking and not for long periods of time. Only
for when I am waiting for my husband to get home. The food is already done
and I don't want to cook it further. So I might leave it on this setting
for an hour or two.

Roadkill and cat turd soup doesn't sound good, even if it hadn't been
left on "warm" for 4 hours.

If the warm setting does not hold food above 140F it's not a safe setting
for holding food for any extended period. Likewise, regardless of what
you're cooking, you have to make sure the specified food reaches the correct
temperature for the correct period of time recommended for killing
pathogens. Then you can hold it at a temperature above 140F (or below 40F).
The 100 degree range between those two temps is considered a danger zone
where food safety is concerned, even if you have previously cooked the food
to proper temp. There's a reason that in commercial food service there are
ridig food safety guidlines for various foods and how long they can be
safely held within that range, usually 2 hours. If the food hasn't reached
safe temp for consumption however, the hold temp guidelines are useless.

I'm still guessing she picked up a flu bug.
