As a child
I played at the shore
of stars uncounted
and controlled
the fury of the sun
harnessed rhythm
such steady beat
it forms the pattern
of my greater nature
or lesser
if you will
yet you tarry longer on this road
unimpressed
shunning a gift
or perhaps the offer
you are like
an eternity
in your all but amused yawn
your teeth
in slight grin
betray to me
a lie in groups of eight
the claim that I
we
are marked for beasts
savage
almost pitiful sights
swelling
until you are as bloated
as a wall-street ego
waiting for the victors
of oceans deeper
than my mind can fathom
until the clock
ambiguous and fresh
in an early universe
distorts in a
reverse causal spike
twinkle my eyes with sinister intention
as I recall the day the moon was cast
from earths nude surface
to stand as a reminder
of the violence
that we act upon
or that we
await
space may appear empty
by comparison
but it is the final frontier
that this is a matter of when
not if
may seem empty to some
My plea was question
one that humanity
must answer for themselves
To answer what is beyond
we must first mark the borders
containing that which is
within
