i have seen the adverts for the War of the WorlRAB film staring Tom Cruise and i am not sure about it. to me it seems to be going to hollywood and more horror rather than staying true to the book. it should of been a good sci-fi independance day like film but they are trying to turn it in to too much of a alien horror. these are just from seeing a minute long advert so i hope i am wrong. does anyone know anything about it? is it meant to be good?

The book as far as I was concerned, was a sci-fi horror.
It should be nothing like independence day, that was a self back patting schmaltzly pile of dribble.

It looks ok-ish... but i was quite disappointed to hear that they aren't going to use the music, or anything similar, from the radio production from the 70's!!

I was wondering about the ending for this film...
I don't want anyone to post any spoilers, but I wouldn't have thought the American Movie going public would be too happy with the ending from the book !

Jeff Waynes isn't due till 2007 now.
Pendragon's is a retelling of the book, and seemingly made for about 50p.

They all seem like terrible adaptions in my opinion.
Come on BBC, film a classic!

There is a fourth version about to come out on DVD by Asylum , another B movie set yet again in modern day America. This one does follow many of the events in the book, but they have made the cardinal sin of not having the fighting machines as tripoRAB but instead with 6 legs. This movie when released in the UK may be under the title of 'Invasion' for copyright reasons.

The Pendragon version is out on R1 DVD and can be bought for just over
