War bonds and the Great Depression?

i know that the Second World war helped end the Great Depression. It created an incredible amount of jobs, mainly working in or for the military, and the U.S. made money selling military munitions to other countries. But, how exactly did war bonds help end the great depression? i know that at the end of the war people would be paid back with an interest, but i still don't understand how war bonds could have contributed nearly as much as the other factors.
