WAP and MMS on the MotoQ

Finally got this thing flashed. Does anyone know how to input wap and mms settings into the Q? Is it a registry setting? I sturabled upon a key labeled VZW Browser that looked like it had wap settings but I didn't want to touch it till I knew for sure.

Does anybody have any ideas about this? I know a few people were working on the Q before me. Did anyone get this far? Just to make sure I have the settings right, they are:

"wap.mycricket.com" for the proxy address, at port 8080,
"[email protected]" for the username,
"cricket" for my password, which was translated to hex since the password entry was a binary value,
"http:\\mms.mycricket.com\servlets\mms" for the server address for mms

I input my wap settings in this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\VZW Browser

and my mms settings in this one:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MOTOROLA\MMS\PROFILES\ VZW MMS
and so far, nothing. What am I doing wrong? :befuddled

I successfully flashed a verizon motorola Q to cricket with the help of this thread. The .hs file worked like a charm. Thanks Again.

No problem. Glad to help. Once again, thanks to aablackr1 at the mobile-files.com forum for the file. Now, we just need to figure out wap. Does anyone know how to make the Q uses simple IP only? There is a modem script to turn on simple IP for tethered connections, but I don't think it sticks (I can't seem to make a tethered connection either, so there must be something else I'm doing wrong).

Hi guys. maybe i'm studip or something. I read and read but still nothing going to flash my verizon Q to cricket PRL. I did use rsd lite 3.6 and activesync 4.2. Active sync connect the phone but rsd lite won't see the phone i do have ckt_PRL_1039.hs but still no go. My Q is a sprint Q. I totally flash with verizon firmware i can get into nam programming but still got stuck with PRL. I would like to help giving a hand on MMS and wap but i can''t even talk and text so please show me what i'm missing thank you.

PS. One thing weird is in connections-usb to pc- if i "enable advanced network functionality" activesync won't connect the phone.

thank you all

Dude, I've been trying for about two days and I'm getting a little nervous myself! :wow: Not that I don't love HOFO, (for one, most everyone here speaks regular English as opposed to Babelfish or Google Translator English!) but I will occasionally get answers there that I don't get here.

to clarify! this is my third post in this thread, and """"Bugger, use the search button and READ THE DAMN THREARAB!""" how the hell do you use the search button to search for "Q". Can you try and tell me if it work. I asked for help nicely like you did when you know nothing about this stuff. Com'on guys

Haha sorry, recently weve had a flood of n00bs who dont do anything for themselves and its uber annoying. As for the Q i want one, but have not got my hanRAB on one to even play with so i dont know how to do anything on it.

Ok, there doesn't seem to be a way to edit wap settings except through the registry or with the proper software (RSD General 4.4 or 4.5, which has not yet been leaked) with the original firmware for the Verizon Q. There is, however, a new proxy menu under the connections menu on the latest firmware revision. While all it should do is edit the existing registry settings for you, I think it might make them stick. My method for inputting the password may not have been correct. The password value is binary by default, so I thought I simply needed to translate the word "cricket" into hex. This may not have been the case, though, as the original key was significantly longer and as I remeraber, the Verizon password is simply vzw.

Anyway, updating the firmware poses a new problem: when it wipes out the PRL, which it probably will, what if the flex no longer works? Also, this does nothing for the mobile IP problem. I still can't figure out a way to put it in simple IP only mode without RSD (outside of the modem script which probably only works in modem mode). What if mobile IP was the problem all along? ARRGGHH!!

:help: Please (bows down in humility) in the name of all that is holy and techy, someone put their genius to work on this and I'll totally buy you a six pack! I'll even drink the first five or so to make sure it's good! :buddies:
