Wanted: Big font/screen, Easy keypad, No flip, Good sound

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a phone designed for people growing.. older.

Basically, vision starts to go so I need a BIG FONT or a big screen.

The keypad has to be legible and easy to press for those clumbsy fingers.

The flip isn't a plus since it makes answering calls take longer than the press of a button. The other side of the story is a flip is simple without any keylock necessary incase of any accidental calls.

The phone also should be as light and small as possible (given the bigger screen etc)

FINALLY, it has to be loud since they don't hear as well as they used to and the reception has to be good too.

Any suggestions? Every phone I think of has a flaw. I'm sure other people are looking for the perfect phone for their parents that are phone illiterate. Just trying to get some ideas.. I'm pretty sure theres no ONE phone out there that'll satisfy EVERYTHING.
 
Samsung T509 for t-mobile.. check it out. Really bright and sharp screen and is big for the phones size. Saw it in the store and the screen is better then most of the 200 dollar phones out there and this ones only 50 bucks with contract.
 
Yeah, its their take on the Slvr. And I do mean take. However, to the OP I would recommend a Samsung if you are in a strong reception area, they have the largest font I have seen on a phone to date. As soon as you get used to their UI, I think that you will have no problems.
I see in you're profile you use a 710, it's gonna be impossible to find a larger screen than that on a non-PDA phone though.
 
Here's my take about the flip thing:

A flip will be easier for your parents to use sinse they open to answer, and close to hang up. If you parents are like mine, they'll have issues using the key-guard...

So you might want to reconsider getting a flip one...
 
Yeah its a lose lose situation there.. I don't know which way to go then, although the sony ericsson's slide type keylock on and off is VERY simple.

I already got a Samsung T609 from rogers to let my mom try out.. samsung sure does have the biggest font out there..
 
Wow the T509 does look pretty good in most aspects.

btw, T-mobile allows this?

Why doesn't rogers offer unlock codes

How much do you think a T509 would cost to bring to my door at Toronto, Canada? (incl. cost, shipping, CUSTOMS cuz it always happens, unlocking)

Depends on how much you would like to spend and what your expectations are. If you just want an inexpensive phone without all the toys such as camera and bluetooth, ..., then just go for a Nokia 6010 which is around $50.00. If you would like more options, go with Motorola such as V3.
