Want to microchip my bike?

Well my bike is pretty expensive and I don't want to loose it. A couple days ago my friends were attacked and had their bikes stolen - I would of had mine stolen as well but they were being stupid and reluctant to leave early with day light so I left early. Anyways on to the question:

A) Can you microchip a bike?
B) How much does it cost/Is their a monthly fee?
C) If it is stolen how would you go about finding it again?
 
A microchip is a passive device like they use in pets. You need a chip reader to send and receive a signal and chances are the police don't use them on bikes. The best thing you can do is register the bike with the national bike registry and take pictures of it. Buy a good lock and use it anytime you walk away from you bike.

I've investigated this question before and found lots of sites that sell GPS locater devices for cars, but nothing specifically for bicycles. The difficulty, other then lack of demand, is the lack of a native power source on the vehicle. There are batter equipped locaters, but they broadcast their locations so frequently the batter life is very limited.
 
i would talk to your local police station about that. i think that microchip is called a "lowjack" device. but yeah, talk to the police station. you can get the chip registered there, and they can GPS it if you lose it.

but first things first, look for the serial number and write it down. it under the bottom bracket.

i would actually get a chip for my $3000 bike, but there is little crime here and...actually, why dont i get one?
