Want second opinion about car battery cables?

So I was leaving for work this morning and my blazer wouldn't start. Battery seemed totally dead. Turned headlights on and didnt see anything. Took wifes car to work, got home later in the day and was getting ready to take the battery out of my blazer for testing and I see my under hood light on. So then I get in and it starts right up. Now the only thing I can think of is maybe my ground wire on the battery isn't making good contact with the block. I wiggled it a little bit before I noticed the hood light on, but not enough to make a difference I thought. The cables look in good condition, but it is dirty and greasy where the ground connects to the block.

So, could that be the reason for no juice this morning? I'm gonna pick up a wire brush tomorrow and disconnect the ground from the block and clean it.
