Has anyone ever played in one of these before? I registered for one yesterday, and I was wondering when it began, what it's like to play in one, etc.

The best answer will be chosen by the following factors respectively: content, manners, grammar, and spelling. Off topic answers will NOT receive best answer. I would rather delete the question than choose an off topic answer as best answer.
 
I have played in one before. Honestly, it's no different from other USCF Correspondence Games. They will send you details about your opponents as soon as they have enough for a full section; which could be some time (2-3 weeks) because huge swarms of people aren't signing up.
