Just stumbled upon it, and they have lots of Disney DVRAB, claiming to be genuine and factory sealed. It says they are UK/Europe versions, but says elsewhere on the site they are imported.
As far as I can see, some releases have only been available for 6 months, others for 12 months. Some more were released several years ago and are still available now. The last release of The Jungle Book was 27th March 2000, and it was re-called on 1st October 2000 - so a period of just over 6 months. Suffice is to say, given it hasn't been available for 7 years, I'd take your chance next week to buy a copy if you want one. You don't know how long it might be before it re-appears again.
Am I right in saying that this is the first time ever on DVD for The Jungle Book? Cant wait for this. Still my all time favourite Disney animation and a lot of us born in the 60's can relate to growing up with this.
I work for Disney and unfortunately, the DVD's are not available for a long time. I would buy it when it comes out to be safe. I really think all the films should be available at all times. I'm looking forward to the release of Sleeping Beauty next year.
I wouldnt turn it down just because of that, I have a friend that would love to have B&TB on DVD, but I couldnt buy it as a gift if it's foreign packaging. I already have B&TB anyway, the red special edition.
When you load the Jungle Book dvd you are presented with a voice telling you it is"enhanced" with Fastplay where you wait and fastplay the film without going to the main menu. Only you have to sit through about five trailers before the film starts. So the term Fastplay is rediculous as it is quicker to press menu and then select play movie which starts the film faster than fastplay would! The main menu even has a fastplay button. If you select this it plays all the trailers first and takes longer than just selecting play movie!! Just seems a totally silly gimmick to me.
But the rest of the disc is great. The special features are really interesting.
All it means is that after the given date Disney wont ship out anymore.
The ones in the shops stay in the shops until they are sold - thats why you can often find deleted Disney discs in some shops a while after the limited period is up.
But you wont be able to go to a shop and order it after that date
I know it may be rather sad, But id love to get a dvd of Beauty and the Beast. Anyone know when its going to get a dvd release?? It was my fave Disney movie as a kid & id love to own a copy! Disney really should realise the demand for all these classic movies & release them more often & for a longer period of time. They just dont make em like that anymore!! lol
Its more extreme in the States. The problem with Beaty and the Beast and Snow White was they were only available for 3 months over there and arent due for rerelease until March 2009.
As for the Jungle Book.Id imagine by next October itll be gone.Quite a few dvRAB are being put into the vault in January.
Just to give u an idea about how Disney work over in the States.....they are releasing a Special Editon (we've already had it here) of Cinderella 2 in late November. Its being taken off the shelves along with others on January 31st.Giving them less than 3 months to buy it.
