I have installed a 8 gb card on my phone. And it is working well. However, I have one problem with the walkman. I added music into the music folder on the card. I did this by directly copying my music into the music folder. Now when i go through the list of artists in the walkman, there are some artists whose names show up half cut-off, or they might show up like below.
A Perfect Cir
A Perfect Circle
And the songs under these are split up. Has anybody seen this before?

It sounds to me like the Tags for the songs aren't filled out correctly. Go to Softpointer.com/AudioShell ID3 tag editor and download the program. Then you can edit the tags. Right click the song and check and see if the tags are filled out correctly. If not then you can copy and paste to fill in the blank spots of type in the missing information. A lot of times they aren't filled out completely in music that you download P2P etc. Hope this Help:smart:

It might be because the phone will only support a memory card up to 4 GB. It is also recomended that you only use a maximum of 2 GB. A friend of mine has the same phone and he was told this. He had a 4gb card and it did the same thing your card is doing. He got the 2 GB card and it now works fine.

Here's the fix that worked for me: strip out ID3v2 tags from your music files, and use ID3v1 tags instead. It's also a good bet to use ANSI text encoding for the tags instead of UTF.

You should be able to choose these options in many freeware tag editors like AudioShell or Mp3Tag. EasyTag worked for me on Linux.

Problem totally solved and I didn't have to buy anything.

I actually had this exact same problem myself. I found it was because I was downloading music (legally unlike a lot of people) through a site. The solution ended up being that I had to go to each one of the files "properties" menu and click the button labelled "unblock" (the one related to the file coming from another computer). It was just a lucky guess, but since then, I've never had the problem ;) .

If all of you are using a data cable, you should not have any of these problems. The friend of mine that has the 580i comes over to my house all the time and puts music from cd's I have on his. We use Windows Media player and click on "sync". Hook the data cable to the computer and then to the phone. Drag the music you want over to the right and then click
" Start Sync". It ends up in his music folder everytime. That is all you have to do.
