waiting oil painting?

with oil painting, do I have to wait days before I can switch to a different colour? how long does it take to dry..? I am used to acrylic since it's instant.
But oil would be nice to master.
 
no, normally oil paints dry at a faster rate if you add a little mixture of turpentine from the usual linseed oil you use for the oil paints.if your using thick mixture of oil paints, it will take time to dry, and if your in a hurry to switch to another color,you may scrape the previous applied oil paints using a palette knife. hope your using a thick canvass as media.
