im trying to decide what phone to get because i will be going to cingular today (sunday). i was bent on getting the CU500 if they had it in my area, but if not, i might pay a little extra to get the W810. or should i just pass all those, and wait til the Samsung A707 comes out?

the reason i say if the CU500 is in my area, is because when i go to cingular's site, and type in my zip code (23320), it doesnt show up. but i clicked a link on a site with the phone, and it came up for my zip code. so i guess i have to wait til i go in today

please help me decide. im looking for a good phone (better than my moto v551). so slimmer is plus, better camera is also a plus, and of course sound is also very important

well, im going back to college today. i mean, i could wait til i come back for thanksgiving, but i need a phone. my v551 is crapping out on me, and its annoying. is the 30 day return only for new customers? or is that for anyone that gets a phone at a cingular store?

wait for the sync. if the sync doesnt come out in the next couple of days or like 2 weeks, get the w810 for sure. i mean, if it wasnt for the sync, this phone would be the best cingular offers.

ok. well i wasnt able to get a phone today because:

1) no insurance
2) not within the upgrade time

so the only option i have is to convince cingular to let me upgrade early (because i NEED a phone), or buy another one...but thats too expensive.

and what are the problems with the cu500? i was able to look at one for a little bit today in the store, and seems very nice

only thing i see wrong with it, is the fact that you have to refresh your security when u get on the internet. anyone else have any problems with theirs?

Being a V551 owner, I was just in your same situation. I was torn between the W810 & the CU500 and it came down to the CU500 being $50 cheaper so I went with the LG. So far I'm very happy with it. I seems very well built. Very solid. Good interface. VERY LOUD. Good reception (in 2G mode). It seems much of the negative on the CU500 is because it's an LG. That would be like saying I wouldn't touch the A707 because my daughter has a Samsung x497 and that's by far the worst POC that I've ever owned.

The only thing that annoys me about the CU500 so far, all I hear is "Is that the Razer?".

haha. do you text alot? thats one thing ill be doing when i get this phone. i heard typing was a pain because the phone wouldnt pick up on the letters. was price the only reason why you didnt pick the w810? how long have you had your CU500? hows the music player?

sorry im asking all these questions. lol, im just curious, and its easier to get all the answers from one place instead of all over the forums

IMO w810 is better on texting, i text a lot and i dont miss the letters on the w810 and its easy to get used to. And the music player is awesome on the w810 esp with megabass on, after all, its a walkman phone

I only text occasionally but don't notice any issues with the keys at all. Slightly raised, easy to press. I've only had mine for 5 days and haven't had a chance to try the music player yet other than the "canned" demo clip (sounds real good thru the speakers). Yes the price was the deciding factor. I tried both phones @ the store and it was a coin-flip for me between the two. I actually called Cing. to order the W810 for $99 and was informed that they had just dropped the price of the LG to $49 - sold.

Although I'm satisfied with my decision at this point I wish I knew the A707 was being released this week. Due to my being focused on the Sony & LG, I overlooked all of the A707 hype. Eventhough My daughter's x497 leaves a bad Samaung taste in my mouth, I do plan to check the A707 out before my 30 days expire.

It's all been hashed over on the other threads, but I got to compare the A707 next to my CU500.
Strange - Although they are both virtually the same physical size (closed), the A707 just seems HUGE. Yes, the larger screen has alot to do with that but it seemed like I was holding a canoe paddle. The Screen on the A707 is awsome and side by side, the LG doesn't come close in regards to size and color. But, look at the LG's screen by its self and it's just fine. Some might be bothered by the fact that it's not the best though. One thing I don't like on the A707 is the need to press and hold the volume key to get the external display to light up. I understand the reason but I don't like it. Another personal preference thing I don't like on the Samsung is the square center and surrounding keys. For whatever reason, it seemed more difficult to press the correct key.
After playing with the A707 for an hour, If I were purchasing new I would lean towards the Samsung. But being I already have the CU500, I can't decide if it's worth my trouble to exchange my LG (phone order) for the A707. I think I may need another hour of playtime.

One thing. Is there a known way to set the A707 to 2G only?

The A707 is larger then most phones including the CU500. The W810i looks tiny next to a open A707. But the SE UI is best among regular phones.
