I'm consider buying a '78 VW camper as a restoration project. The thing hasn't moved, or even been started in at least 5 years.
I'm assuming the engine is going to need a complete rebuild - no problem. But it's also got an automatic transmission (yuk) and fuel injection (probably the early Bosch 'K').
I know nothing about fuel injection - at all - and would really prefer to convert to a carburetor. How much headache am I asking for, or would I be better off just dealing with the fuel injection? I'm thinking just an intake manifold and Weber carb. Anything else that I'll need to spend money on???
Also, as a bonus, if anyone has any advice, or warnings, about an automatic transmission that hasn't turned in 5 yrs, I'd like to hear what you have to say.
Thanks!
