Thanks for the examples Easty.

Me thinking about getting the ContourHD. Has anyone tried mounting it on the tail looking forward as in the motoGP Bike cams? with a 135 wide lens Im guessing it would be a cool angle.

If so any examples and what kinda mount did you use?

Thought about it for 1.5 Nano seconds.. My big ass would take up the whole frame.. Be kinda boring vid after everyone got done laughing

Well done Easty

The thing I like about these is the mounts that can be purchased.
Sounds like a 'Flat Surface mount' is what you're after $20 http://vholdr.com/contourhd/accessories

Ha ha, I'm having a use of a mates GoPro and found I did the same thing. The red light starts flashing and then a few minutes later that stops and the LCD screen is off. So I thought it was off, turned it "on" again etc....

Not the easiest thing to use when it does that. I think it's sensitive to battery mAh as well or something - this one would keep turning itself off when using normal batteries. I got some Duracell NiMH 1000mAh and it seemed to stay on a bit better but still it seems a bit flakey. Ha ha just as I'm typing this I'm checking the batteries I stuck in there and I noticed it says "only use Energizer Lithium or NiMH batteries". Not that the brand should make any difference but that explains the flakiness with normal batteries.

I mounted it on the fuel filler cap, the 999 has the oval one and I have one of those quick release ones with space in front of the cap. The normal mounts are too low to see the road ahead but you do get the handlebars well in shot so you can see yourself cranking the throttle open. Bwooaarp!!!

brettc63 I have the camera as well. thanks for the link to the mounts haven't seen the universal mount up there until today. looks good

Hey i know RC already made his decision but like was mentioned before GO PRO is coming out with a HD version and will have the SDHC so you could use up to 32GB cards also if i remember right they will have a rechargable battery and a way to have it powered directly so you in theory could make an connection to your bike and never have to charge the battery. Plus i think it will have the exernal mic mod built in so you dont have to figure it out and you get the same kit as ther standard go pro ( mounts ect.)
And for those of us that already have the go pro you can go one their website and download a 4 GB SDHC firmware your camera

Well, I've used the Go-Pro a bit now and it's pretty much foolproof and handy.. If I were to have a complaint at all, it is the lack of magnification. If you want to vid your buddy, you have to be really close like say 3 maybe 5 bike length's at most.. It's a little nerve wracking on canyon rides, don't see track being too much easier but at least then you can see whats coming up..

Sounds like the trial one I had.. It's NOT your batteries.. it's a bug in the firmware of the camera. Let the supplier know and they should replace it for you.. unless it was Ebay.. then I guess you have buckleys.. No matter what batteries you use the thing will just turn itself off after a couple of minutes. I use Panasonic rechargeables with 1300mA rating. My wfe is a microelectronics engineer and went though all the variables before I gave it back to prove it was not my bateries. She built test rigs and power boards and shit.. the unit kept stopping..

The new one doesn't.

how long should the batteries to last?

i've used alikaline's and get about 30 minutes out of them. i'm going to try the recommended to see if that is any better
