I have the go pro, my almost B I L has the other one.. The gopro is a lot better, easier to use and otherwise better.. but 2 gig is it's limit.. you can only delete one vid or delete all. there is NO playback until you get to a TV or puter..

If I were serious about it I would get a normal camera with aux video in PLUS aux mic in. or a hard drive with one of those lipstick camera.. or both..

I reckon you'd almost spend the same amount BUT you'd get up to 30 gig on a proper camera and their vibration resistance is getting way better... aux mic in means you can get that mic hangin off the tail and getting a proper note.

Oh there is no FF function on eith camera until you save the vid... so you get 40 mins of vid saved then go to find the 5 mins of twisties..

I've thought I'd swithced mine off and hadn't.. then gone to switch it back on and actually switched it OFF.. missed the bit I really wanted... got 25 mins of straight farmland.

Then again.. the ONE piece of video I really really wanted... and the camera had a firmware bug...

Still I like the go pro.. use it on my mtn bike and the motorbike.

link up a new vid tonight..

Go-Pro is gonna come out with the 1080P camera before the Holidays

That first link RC is to the old one (VholdR). They have a new HD one out now. http://vholdr.com/contourhd/helmetcam?/camera/overview

The VholdR had pretty shit sound (lots of wind noise but I think it's better now)

I've always liked the idea of the VholdR, no cables etc + all the ways to attach it.

There has been a fair bit of discussion already about the VholdR on here. I think Zman was the latest 'guinea pig'.

Brent,

Thanks for the research material, about 1/2 way through. So far Go-Pro might be a bit easier to start up with due to all the mounts they give you. But the VR seems to be a better unit.. Still reaserching.. So far VR HD looks to get the nod..

Upon reflecting on just how often I would use this camera, I decided to go with the Hero MotorSports Wide Angle..

Got one new off FleaBay for $110 to my door..

Thanks all for your valuable input..

RC,

I hope you made the right decision.
I have tried a couple of types of cameras over the past few years,

The first video is of me at eastern creek a couple of years ago. The camera is a top of the line Sony video camera attached to a sportsbikecam camera mount to my K6 1000.
Good quality footage, but bulky on the bike,(cant tuck in behind the screen down the straights) and limited to angles that can be recorded onboard.

The second video is of the very small VR HD unit which is compact and discrete (just in case you get pulled over by party pooper brigade), long battery life 16GB of recording via a micro SD card, and best of all, it is light and can be put anywhere and at any angle, and it is high definition and can be recorded and down loaded on your computer in minutes, opposed to the old way of reformatting your footage so your computer could read it before burning it to disk or doing other stuff with it.

I have ordered 2 of these, as I think this is the best on the market, all with out breaking the bank.
The footage is of our forum member TYE1138.
I would like to know what you think about this great little camera,

Brett.

I have the GoPro wide. Just put it in to action last Saturday on the dirt track. I still need to play with it to get the volume right but I like it. I do wish it had viewing capability on the camera. Would also be nice to put a larger SD card in it but it serves it purpose well.

I had the standard lens before. It fell off the side of my 748 in AZ after hitting a rough patch of road at night. I doubled back to find it with no luck. Bad news is I was out $200. Good news I had a great excuse to get the wide lense!!

I have a Vholdr.. Great image.. like all the cams crap sound at speed.. So I made an external mic mod.

And the first on track video. Could probably hook the mic on the rear tailsection for better sound.

its a great unit. Small, mini usb charge and link up. micro sd, super easy to flick on and off while riding. I did a little offroad footage with it on my KTM adv at weekend though dont have the video yet.
