John Stossel probably put it best when he said that some people aren't qualified to be heart surgeons, and some people aren't qualified to vote. Not a direct quote, but same concept. Anyways, I'm not here to persuade, that's what I need your help with. I am writing a persuasive essay on why people should be required to vote before registration, the only problem is I don't have solid facts or stats to reinforce my opinion. I can say why I personally think that is the case, but I need something people can't argue with. The problem on top of my problem is, I can't find these facts through the books or sites I have visited and I doubt there has been very many studies taken on this topic, so it would be a great help if you could give me what I am looking for. Even a quote that I could tie into my argument from a well respected person in history would be awesome. If you could do this for me, I will give the next homless person I see $5 or I will save some kids from a burning bus. Either way, I will do something to make someone elses life a little easier, if you could help make mine easier; Pay It Forward so to speak. It sucks, but I have to bribe people to answer my questions, I average about 2 bad answers per question. I don't mind on questions that I don't ligetimately need a good answer on, but a question like this deserves at least 2 GOOD answers. Look at it this way, by helping me, you are helping the world =]
Like I said, I'm not here to persuade, but I will give you a little detail on why people should have to take this test. I understand that some people may be in favor of this test for the sole purpose that minorities would have less of a chance of voting, however, that is not my reasoning and is not even a valid argument in my favor. What I would do to negate that, is have the people who may not be informed on issues and why they are for or against those issues have the opportunity to be informed through various methods. If they don't have proper access to internet or some type of reliable source to be properly informed, I would set up some type of booths, almost like firework stands, before certain elections. These booths would be filled with different pamphlets and books explaining what they need to know. I would even have the booths regulated to insure that the people using these booths were being informed correctly. It isn't smart to let a blind man drive a car is it?
Another thing also, a while back they created these places called public libraries that are actually open to the PUBLIC. Meaning, ANYONE can use the computers or books that the library contains. I understand that people will always try to find a hole in an argument that they are against, but this is just something I would think most people could agree on, it isn't complicated. I know I said I wasn't going to argue my point on here, but for some reason I have an overload of enegy at the moment and I feel it is almost a duty, to persuade someone into believing something I believe in so strongly. I understand most times people are persuaded for the worse (taken advantage of) and that is not what I am about. In fact, that is almost the sole reason the test should be taken
