Volume on itouch 4 is acting up?

The volume keeps going from low to high by itself. When it's on low I can have the slider all the way up but it's still really low. And then out of nowhere it adjusts itself. But then does it again. I already went to the volume menu in settings but it keeps doing it. But then again I don't know how to work that menu. Help please
